Link Key Account Manager Janine Openshaw explains why Link is still a revered brand in the pharmacy sector after all these years.

Link has earned trust over decades, but many people are unaware that Link is a licensee of UPD (United Pharmaceutical Distributors) which plays a significant role in South Africa’s healthcare ecosystem. UPD is a division of Clicks Group, and Link pharmacies and its customers enjoy the stringent Quality Compliance processes inherent in the Group.

Values.

Link has built its brand in communities. In many instances, the pharmacy owner has served generations of families. Values such as ‘Community” and ‘Family’ are core to Link, providing customers with a sense of belonging.

Some of our pharmacy owners have practised for as long as Link has been around while a new generation has brought a fresh dynamic to Link. What binds them is Link’s values, and their desire to make a difference in their communities.

Link’s ‘good health’ solutions are determined by community dynamics, meaning that clinic services can cater for basic needs or comprehensive primary care. The alignment of our stores to their communities extends to frontshop products where popular brands are stocked but the basket may differ from store to store.

Our focus is on customers – regardless of where they live – who believe in the simplicity of good health, a feeling shared by many after the trauma of the COVID pandemic.

Link is an enduring brand in the healthcare ecosystem and, in terms of taking essential primary care to South Africa’s communities, Link is even more relevant today than it was over three decades ago.
